Sand Dunes

I have now been to the Great Sand Dunes National Park in all seasons and at different times of day. It fascinates me how each time has been different. This is what makes Photography interesting to me. No matter how many times you use the same subject matter, you can always find something different.

We took some time to wander main street this afternoon, and and take in the ice sculptures. The theme this year was Frozen. We saw lots of little girls dressed up like Elsa and Anna. Even saw a mommy dressed up like Olaf.

Yellow Woolly Bear Caterpillar

Folklore holds that the relative amounts of brown (in this case yellow) and black on the skin of a Woolly Bear caterpillar (commonly abundant in the fall) are an indication of the severity of the coming winter. It is believed that if a Woolly Bear caterpillar’s brown stripe is thick, the winter weather will be mild and if the brown stripe is narrow, the winter will be severe. (Wikipedia)
