Climbing the Dunes

This pictures are from a few weeks ago, when my brother and I climbed the High Dune in the Great Sand Dunes National Park. If you ever get the chance to come and visit, I highly recommend climbing the Dune. Its a lot of work but a lot of fun. It took us about 90 minutes to reach the summit, and 10 minutes to come down.

  1. Nice photos! I drove by the Dunes often with my family headed to camping trips when I was a kid. My Dad never would stop at the Dunes. Seeing your pictures makes me want to revisit the area!

  2. Climbing a sand dune is incredibly hard and slow-going. My family tried climbing a sand dune in 1986 at the White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. We laughed ourselves silly when we got six feet in 15 minutes. It’s a great memory to have!
